Winter Books!

Winter is the time to snuggle up with a good book, make a cup of hot chocolate and watch the snowflakes falling down.   It’s a time when the days are short, the nights are cold and the smell of woodsmoke is in the air.    You and your children can make some snowmen, watch the winter birds find seeds, hang winter mittens out to dry and read a story together.

Here are some of my family’s favorites:
Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner
Have you ever built a snowman and discovered the next day that his grin has gotten a little crooked, or his tree-branch arms have moved? And you’ve wondered, “What do snowmen do at night?”
The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats
Waking up to a world of snowy white-what could be better? Young Peter can’t wait to jump in his snowsuit and run out to explore. There are snowmen to build, snowballs to pack, mountains to climb and snowbanks to collapse in-to carve a snow angel! And when the day is done, there’s a dark night of dreams and drifting snow, and a new snowy day to awake to.
Thomas’ Snowsuit by Robert N Munsch
Willful, young Thomas refuses to wear his new snowsuit, despite the pleas of his mother, his teacher and even his principal. When everyone’s best efforts lead only to comedic chaos, they all agree it’s best to let Thomas suit himself.
Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London
Rambunctious Froggy hops out into the snow for a winter frolic, but is called back by his mother to put on some necessary articles of clothing.
